ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA TOURISM AUTHORITY SHOWCASES DESTINATION AT PUERTO RICO TRADE AND CONSUMER PROMOTIONS

JOHN’S, ANTIGUA (February 14, 2025) – The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) successfully concluded the first of its Caribbean & Latin America trade and consumer engagement roadshows with travel and trade partners, by participating in a weekend of dynamic trade and consumer activities in San Juan, Puerto Rico from February 1 – 4 2025. Representing the Tourism Authority were Charmaine Spencer, Director of Tourism for the Caribbean and Latin America, Matara Thomas Administrative Executive and Alfonsina Olmos, Marketing Assistant. During the visit, the team engaged in activities designed to bolster awareness of Antigua and Barbuda in the Puerto Rican market to promote the new and expanded travel opportunities via Caribbean Airlines and Frontier Airlines.

The ABTA collaborated with Travel with Sears (TWS) for the highly anticipated TWS Travel Fair 2025 and participated at this very popular Travel & Tourism event held on February 1 and 2. The new travel options now available from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Antigua were promoted to the over 5000 attendees at the show. Visitors to the Antigua and Barbuda booth had the opportunity to engage with the ABTA representatives, learn more about the twin-island paradise, and take home promotional giveaways and prizes.

Joining Antigua and Barbuda at the event were Arlenes Garcia, Director of Sales, Latin America for Sandals International, Mairobis Tamayo Fuentes, Sales Executive for Caribbean Airlines and Fernando Vazquez, Regional Manager, Field Marketing & Sales, from Frontier Airlines.

The event also highlighted Frontier Airlines’ new direct route from San Juan to Antigua, set to launch on February 15, 2025.

The following day, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority took part in a travel agents’ dinner hosted by Caribbean Airlines, led by Lisa Morales, Head of Sales, and Mairobis Tamayo Fuentes, Sales Executive. The event provided a valuable opportunity to engage with approximately 30 travel agents, offering face-to-face interaction, destination updates, and the chance to strengthen key industry relationships.

Director of Tourism for the Caribbean and Latin America (ABTA), Charmaine Spencer said, “Increasing our presence within key regional markets is a part of our strategy for this year, and strengthening partnerships with airlines and travel agencies is a top priority in our ongoing efforts to drive tourism growth”.

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority will engage in a series of roadshows throughout the year in the region, to showcase Antigua and Barbuda and major events within the year to include the Caribbean Travel Marketplace in Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda Restaurant Week, and Antigua Carnival.
