Boom Restaurant & Pool

Poolside dining with a view

Enjoy our beautiful new poolside restaurant, Boom, located in front of Gunpowder House with its spectacular infinity edged pool overlooking Nelson’s Dockyard. Serving delicious lunches and cocktails from 11 to 6pm. Take a dip in the pool, laze in the hammocks and sun beds or get pampered in the spa.

It is hard to beat the elevated harbourside position of Boom at Gunpowder House for a scenic dining venue. Building on the success of their Pillars restaurant at historic Admiral’s Inn located directly across the harbour, the owners of Boom have created a wonderful upscale setting to enjoy a delicious lunch.

The vast outdoor terrace boasts an infinity-edged pool where you may bask on the luxurious sun-beds overlooking the spectacular Nelson’s Dockyard. If you are interested in being pampered massages and treatments are available at The Powder Room Spa.

This unique bar and restaurant is set in front of a remodeled 18th century Gunpowder store which houses art exhibitions and boasts four spectacular deluxe suites.

Boom menu highlights a fresh and healthy approach with seafood favorites such as Caribbean Fish Cakes, Lobster Salad and Seared Tuna but meat lovers will not be disappointed by the Truffle Aioli Steak Sandwich and Peppered Tournedos.

Boom is headed by English Chef Matthew Carpenter who was trained at 1 Michelin Star Petrus in London’s Knightsbridge, working under the watchful eye of Marcus Wareing, and then at 2 Michelin Star Gidleigh Park, working for Michael Caines. In 2007 Matthew relocated to the US to work under Grande Chef Jonathan Cartwright in the kitchens of the Relais Chateaux property, White Barn Inn (AAA Five Diamond, Forbes 5 Star Fine Dining) which is known for its excellent training. After 4 years Matthew relocated to Majorca to become head Chef at Hotel Reads. There he focused on creating a modern yet refined dishes using locally sourced produce to create an exciting range of flavors, textures, aromas and visual presentation. Matthew is now using his excellent culinary skills to offer fresh, creative dishes at Boom for lunch with a weekly 5-course Chef’s Tasting Menu on Thursday nights during the season.

Use of the pool and sun-beds are free to guests who are lunching or subject to a fee if you just want to enjoy the view, lounge and swim.
