Geography of Antigua and Barbuda
Antigua and Barbuda is at the “heart of the Caribbean”. It lies within the Leeward Island chain in the Eastern Caribbean, about 450 miles north east of South America.
Approximate flying time to Antigua from London is 8 hours, while, sister island Barbuda, is fifteen minutes away by either private charter or scheduled flight and approximately two hours by catamaran or ferry.
At some 108 square miles (280 sq km), Antigua is the larger of the two and includes the capital city, St John’s.
Barbuda lies 27 miles to the north of Antigua and is 62 square miles (161 sq km). A third island, Redonda (uninhabited and, at just half-a-square-mile, tiny), lies 35 miles to the west.
