Flora

Thanks to the introduction of plants, shrubs and trees from the various human settlers over the centuries, almost every type of tropical plant can be found in Antigua. On or off the beaten track, you’ll never be far from fruit-bearing trees, flowering cacti, lilies, orchids and grasses.

Fauna

On land the wildlife tends to be small and exotic including tree frogs, geckos and harmless snakes. In the air, seven species of bats are joined by over 100 species of migratory landbirds and waterfowl. However, it’s in the sea that Antigua’s fauna really shines, with an abundance of marine life including whales, dolphins and sea turtles.
